I can't believe he's dead. It's been less than two weeks since I last saw him.

I didn't know him all that well personally. He was the sort of friend of a friend who I'd bump into at an event, have a good chinwag about music and then not see for a few months. Still, via gabba.cc and Kin he had a big impact on my life. I heard so much stuff for the first time after downloading it from gabba: Mayer, Superpitcher, MRI, Lexxus, Kohmatron, Babycham, even "I Wanna Love You Like A Robot" came from there. His Kin label was responsible for putting out one of my favourite albums of last year, a record that would have never happened if not for him.

At Club FT two Thursdays ago he seemed so energised(and knocked out by meeting Tim F for the first time). He'd been having a bad time of it recently but you wouldn't have believed it to see him dancing. That's what stands out from the memories on this thread: his sheer love of music and his enthusiasm for sharing it with people. When I first met him, at a Warp party, three years ago, the very first conversation we had was about the way p2p was changing the musical landscape for the better.

I didn't talk to him as much I would have liked that Thursday, but he was so pleased to see everyone I thought we'd be seeing a lot more of him over the coming months. I can't come to terms with the fact that we won't.

Goodbye Nick. You'll be missed.
