So, last night, I have the flu and my face hurts and so on, and I have two separate birthday engagements to attend which I've had to cancel on because of infectiousness and general lack of any energy whatsoever. At about 6pm I discover that the Shortwave Set are playing at the Windmill later. This would merit no more than a shrugged 'so what?' except that it's rumoured that Green Gartside will be supporting them. Which seems very unlikely, the truth of this rumour, because he hasn't done a live gig in like 20 years and if he was suddenly going to start again, well, why now, and why supporting the SS? I um and ah, and consider the possibilities, and settle on staying at home. A trip to Brixton would surely lay me even lower and make my face hurt even more and if I go all that way and it is just a rumour, which it *must* be, thinking about it, I will be extremely annoyed. So, I don't go.

Well, it turns out the rumour was true, the GG in Double G & The Traitorous Three really was Green and here's a photo to prove it:



OK, so he is looking a bit ropey, and kind of worryingly indie-rock with the beard and guitars and T-shirts, but still: GREEN GARTSIDE!

I left the house today and I bought a pork pie and some Meltus coff mix (and some other stuff too but you know it was mostly soop so I don't want to bore you with my whole shopping list, I mean I'm not a walking shoping diary am I. Anyawy, more darts on bbci with the red button thing at 6! Did you see lady darts? Excellent).

I failed to make the birthday drinks yesterday, then failed to meet mostly non-ILX/LJ friends today to go see King Kong. I wish I had a straightforward short-term physical illness to cite, but it's the same mental illness as for several years now, dammit.

Balls, what a complete pisser. And it *does* merit more than a shrug to me. I don't think he's looking too bad considering...(The event itself, however, is almost as annoying as being ill for 2 weeks and on the very day of my recovery, picking up a flyer which informed me I was, almost at that moment, missing the Chameleons reforming!!!!).

It appears everyone is ill, still. I am recovering, virtually everyone else I know is laid low. *recovery hugs*

YEah saw the post on ilx and was mighty jealous! Altho, the post said it were Scritti wot was playing, not Green. If THAT had been the case I might well have just killed mself.
