Fashion mistake of the decade

Spotted in Dalston on Friday: a man wearing two pairs of pants, both visible over the (very low) waistband of his jeans.

A colleague told me that a Young Person of her acquaintance says it's all the rage for the young ladies of today to wear TWO bras, one assumes for the purposes of extra bosom enhancement. Perhaps the young man you saw needed extra support in the genital department?

one of you should have whispered "there's a star in the east" to him

[identity profile] piratemoggy.livejournal.com 2009-09-14 10:05 am (UTC)(link)
Wha? One bra is usually uncomfortable enough!

[identity profile] catsgomiaow.livejournal.com 2009-09-14 10:11 am (UTC)(link)
Well, quite! I assume that the Young People of Today are prepared to put up with a certain amount of discomfort in the name of fashion (as has always been the case I suppose). I fail to see HOW two bras would increase yr cleavage any more than one really good bra but hey ho...

[identity profile] dubdobdee.livejournal.com 2009-09-14 10:18 am (UTC)(link)
my suggestion increases implied cleaveage!

[identity profile] catsgomiaow.livejournal.com 2009-09-14 10:21 am (UTC)(link)
I suppose IMPLIED cleavage is the important thing here - one puny bra will NOT do!

[identity profile] piratemoggy.livejournal.com 2009-09-14 11:00 am (UTC)(link)
Well, as a youngish person (I say "ish" because I am GRUMPY) I enjoy a good cleavage-enhancing bra but since these things are widely and adfordably available, why would anyone spend more money (my iPhone just attempted to correct that to "Monet" bringing up a whole different kettle of fish) on two (2) presumably sh!tter bras?

The mind boggles, frankly.

Both Sam and Roxy Mitchell on Stenders seem to be in the habit of wearing about 97 different layered tops, it is hard to tell which are bras and which are vest tops so they could have started this trend for multiple straps.

[identity profile] piratemoggy.livejournal.com 2009-09-14 10:07 am (UTC)(link)
This does seem to be "in" according to trendy window displays in my place of work.

Oh dear. I was hoping that this chap was some sort of sartorial innovator.

[identity profile] piratemoggy.livejournal.com 2009-09-14 10:52 am (UTC)(link)
Oh no, he probably just works in Topman. D:

[identity profile] tansu.livejournal.com 2009-09-14 10:29 am (UTC)(link)
Oof.

Pass the non-iron slacks, I do believe I've given up.

[identity profile] dubdobdee.livejournal.com 2009-09-14 10:09 am (UTC)(link)
is it one bra inside the other or in vertical parallel?

[identity profile] dubdobdee.livejournal.com 2009-09-14 10:24 am (UTC)(link)
full mammalian boobage fashion trend!

[identity profile] piratemoggy.livejournal.com 2009-09-14 11:03 am (UTC)(link)
Yes, this! I would try and start it but I find it difficult enough finding one vagely clean bra let alone three.

[identity profile] sbp.livejournal.com 2009-09-14 11:34 am (UTC)(link)
Next people will start having a boob job to insert extra boobs above or below the ones they grew up with....

IT'S UDDER MADNESS I TELL YOU

[identity profile] freakytigger.livejournal.com 2009-09-14 10:25 am (UTC)(link)
Was one of them a NAPPY? I've considered doing this w/Lytton when he wants to wear pants but we don't fancy cleaning up the piss.

[identity profile] carsmilesteve.livejournal.com 2009-09-14 10:29 am (UTC)(link)
no, there were grey pants and then white pants and then jeans.

i thought he might be a homeless for a moment, and that second pair actually = long johns...

[identity profile] dubdobdee.livejournal.com 2009-09-14 10:33 am (UTC)(link)
maybe he's a timelord

[identity profile] piratemoggy.livejournal.com 2009-09-14 10:55 am (UTC)(link)
Long johns also in according to Uniqlo.

Long johns are very practical!

I am considering investing in extra-warm underthings of various descriptions as I have just realised that Exciting New Job = Exciting New Opportunity to stand outside in the cold for 5 hrs at a time 3 days a week. And I am starting it at the end of October. Well done me, there.

One for business, one for pleasure.

[identity profile] sbp.livejournal.com 2009-09-14 11:32 am (UTC)(link)
With braces?

[identity profile] boyofbadgers.livejournal.com 2009-09-14 11:33 am (UTC)(link)
Sadly not.

It sounds like fashion genius to me. Pants visible above waistbands are a pretty standard fashion thing these days after all, so wearing two colours is just mix'n'match layering.

for maximum heft

[identity profile] dubdobdee.livejournal.com 2009-09-14 12:11 pm (UTC)(link)
he should have the coloured ankles of his long johns peek out below his trouser ends -- ideally in a THIRD colour!

also have his pockets turned out, with further pants material peeking out through the holes in the pockets

this is all very tudor

[identity profile] trayce.livejournal.com 2009-09-14 11:57 pm (UTC)(link)
Its a bit like back in the 80s, when we all wore 4 pairs of socks, rolled down so each colour/layer showed in little rolls! Neon yellow, pink and orange, natch.

mmm... classy.
